Cultural Empowerment Groups

LU's mission is to empower our members through support and education of relevant issues; to connect our members to each other, our community and to resources that will be influential in their future; and finally, to provide an example of leadership, grace and friendship that will serve to build and strengthen our community.
Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays at 6:15 pm in LBJ Student Center Room 4-9.1

Black Women UnitedBlack Women United

BWU is an organization where women of all ethnicities can come together to educate and empower themselves.
Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays at 6:30 pm in Derrick Hall Room 113.

Black Men UnitedBlack Men United 

BMU is a brotherhood-based student organization that empowers Black males through dialogue, skill development and service.
Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays at 7:00 pm in LBJ Student Center Room 3-5.1

Hombres UnidosHombres Unidos

HU is a brotherhood-based student organization that prepares Hispanic males for life-long success through civic engagement, dialogue and education.
Meetings are held weekly on Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in LBJ Student Center 3-13.1


The purpose of Coalescence is to provide an organization of peers who identify as bi-racial or multi-racial with a goal of pursuing a common bond between backgrounds by embracing racial and cultural differences.
Meetings are held weekly on Mondays at 7:00 pm in LBJ Student Center 4-9.1
