TXST Collaboration with VetsWhatsNext

The recruitment and formation of an Ad Hoc Task Force (comprised of VetsWhatsNext, students, faculty, staff and community stakeholders and co-chaired by students and VATS member) to assist in the improvement of VetsWhatsNext application. Prospective improvements and projects led by students include venture capital, app development, marketing and journalism, research and white paper, policy and government, and a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion. The task force is formation of diverse students representing various colleges/units who draw from their academic knowledge, professional aspirations and guidance of faculty/staff/community leaders to support the development of a mobile application that supports veterans and military connected students

Major (Ret.) Eric K. King a native of Marianna, Arkansas. Upon completing his high school education in 1997, he joined the Arkansas Army National Guard in June 2000 and enlisted as a Combat Engineer. He then enrolled into the Golden Lion Battalion Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. After receiving his Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in May 2003, Major King was commissioned Active Duty as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in the Quartermaster Corps and branch detailed into the Infantry Corps as a Second Lieutenant.


VWN is about empowering and helping Disabled Veterans, Homeless Veterans, Service Members, and their families by providing consolidated services and resources that will allow them to reclaim their lives and economic stability.

The VetsWhatsNext Ecosystem serves as a mobile and website platform to allow organizations nonprofit and for- profit agencies to provide outstanding goods, services, and benefits directly to veterans and their families.

    Major King’s primary objective is to consolidate resources and opportunities to reclaim their lives and economic stability.


  • Enrollment of student veterans and military connected students
    VetsWhatsNext serves as a transitional tool that connects current and exiting military service members, veterans and family members to various opportunities including higher education.


  • Student retention of student veterans
    VetsWhatsNext is a hub (the of veteran resources, services and opportunities) that compliments TXST’s institutionalized capacity.
