Welcome to Texas State University. As you begin or continue, your academic journey here at Texas State, we wanted to introduce ourselves as the leadership of Veterans Alliance of Texas State (VATS), a chartered student organization. Our goal is to provide academic and social support to every student veteran and do what we can to see all of you fulfill your scholastic goals. In order to achieve this goal, VATS serves as the Student Veterans of America (SVA) chapter for Texas State and works closely with Veterans Initiative, Tutor Corps, Veterans Guiding Veterans and many more University and community organizations.
Beginning summer 2017, we have a new team spearheading the VATS Executive Board. One of our goals is to grow membership to include all student veterans in order to develop our circle of friends and network. We will continue to work at the institutional level to ensure that students veterans are supported and to improve services and resources at the University. With that stated, we need your active participation to allow us to become a successful chapter of the University. Additionally, another goal is to provide many opportunities to you so that you can become integrated into the campus community. These opportunities will be in the form of events such as coffee socials, monthly lunches, Bobcat Nation nights, tailgates, and more. These are fantastic opportunities to experience campus life and will aid in transition to the civilian population. We hope to see you out there!
In closing, we take great pride in Texas State being a top military friendly school. President Trauth has personally affirmed a commitment to this cause. Texas State provides more than most schools to our student veteran population. In order for us to remain a best military friendly university, we need your support, participation, feedback, and engagement. Don't be just a student vet; become a member of the university family -- become a Bobcat. We hope to meet each of you soon.
